‘Most exclusive’ concours to make a return

After a spectacular debut in 2023, Concorso d’Eleganza Varignana 1705 is set to return to the Palazzo di Varignana in the heart of Italy’s motor valley from 27-29 September.

The self-annointed ‘world’s most exclusive concours’ is for pre-1973 cars and will host 30 extraordinary classic cars divided into six classes. Last year’s winner was Corrado Lopresto’s 1939 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 S Berlinetta Touring.

The judges for 2024 include Octane columnist Stephen Bayley, François Melcion, Stefano Pasini and Peter Read. Jury president and renowned author Stefano Pasini said: ‘I am thrilled to unveil the esteemed panel joining us for the Concorso d’Eleganza Varignana 1705 this year. Our prestigious event promises not only to showcase timeless elegance but also to celebrate the pinnacle of automotive craftsmanship. With our new jury members, we’re poised to elevate the standards of excellence even higher, ensuring an unforgettable experience for enthusiasts and aficionados alike.’

Carlo Gherardi, Founder of Palazzo di Varignana, added: ‘I am immensely proud of the resounding success of our 2023 Concorso d’Eleganza Varignana. The passion and dedication exhibited by participants and attendees alike truly encapsulated the spirit of automotive excellence. Looking ahead to 2024, I am filled with anticipation as we prepare to build upon this success and create another unforgettable event. With each passing year, we continue to raise the bar, cementing our position as the epitome of exclusivity and sophistication in the world of automotive elegance.’
