Third Concours on Savile Row promises best of both worlds

The worlds of tailoring and cars will combine in a truly unique way on 22-23 May when Savile Row, the world’s most famous tailoring street, becomes a petrolhead heaven.

As well as lining the picturesque Mayfair street with spectacular machines, the third Concours on Savile Row will showcase the bespoke craftsmanship in both industries, as long as presenting a raft of discussions and other activities.

Supported by Westminster City Council, The Pollen Estate, and sponsors EFG Private Bank, Aranyani, Hagerty, Royal Academy of Arts, Blick Rothenberg and Octane‘s sister title Magneto, the free event sees tailors partnering with motoring companies, whether it be Henry Poole & Co partnering with Mercedes-Benz, JP Hackett partnering with Formula E, Gieves & Hawkes partnering with Everrati or Dege & Skinner partnering with Morgan.

One partnership promising a fascinating event is Huntsman and Hagerty. The pair will celebrate the famously dapper late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts through clothing (Huntsman made some 200 suits for Watts) and cars from his private collection including his very rare 1939 Lagonda LG6 Rapide.

Luxury cloth merchant and cloth weaver Holland & Sherry is partnered with Austin Pedal Cars with a J40 with Hollad & Sherry interior built specially for the event.

An old Octane favourite, the rallyingJaguar XK120 PPE 101 will be on show at Norton & Sons with which it has deep historical connections.

Throughout the Concours, the main stage on Savile Row will host a series of free talks and interviews with celebrities, tailors and industry experts while there will be two panel talks held at the Royal Academy of Arts and a photography exhibition by Lara Platman at The Service.

Jenny Casebourne, Head of Portfolio at The Pollen Estate, added: ‘The Pollen Estate is delighted that Concours on Savile Row will be returning for a third year. Savile Row is London’s iconic destination renowned for tailoring, craftsmanship and style. We are excited to see the new collaborations and the synergies with the car manufacturers come to life. The event is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to go inside the tailoring houses and meet the individual tailors, as well as experience the expertise and craft behind a bespoke suit first-hand. Concours on Savile Row is a great addition to London’s events calendar and will showcase the very best of British tailoring to a global audience.’

Geoff Love, UK Managing Director of Event Organiser Hothouse Media, said: ‘We are very excited for the 2024 edition of the Concours on Savile Row. As a celebration of craftsmanship and the very best of tailoring and bespoke car design, there is nothing quite like it. Stunning cars, talks on the central stage, a seminar programme and the doors of some of the best tailors in the world open for all to take a look inside, and all available for no entrance fee. We are indebted to the tailors, the manufacturers and the sponsors for enabling this to happen in the centre of London.’
